Why Bastet ?

Bastet came from the Word Bast . It is over 5000 years old name. The ancient Egyptians domesticated cats and had understood the value of the companionship between cats and mankind which is known now as the human-animal bond.

Bastet Cat Hospital Inc was founded before the end of last century (1997) was opened to the public mid-1998 in Burbank, California. Many clients ask our staff “What is Bastet”? Others call and want to talk with Dr. Bastet (they mean Dr. Basilious). Bastet is the goddest of cats in the Egyptian History

The name Basilious is a Greek in origin meaning (Kingdom or King) and Bastet is not a part of the Basilious’ name. Dr. Sam H. Botros Basilious is the founder and medical director. He in practice for over 24 years. He graduated from Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Assuit University, Egypt in 1980. After his graduation, he practiced Clinical Pathology in Diagnostic Medical Labs, Mixed Practice, then moved to Practice in Mixed and Small Animal for five years. Later he moved to the United States. Dr. Basilious passed his boards, then worked for School of Medicine, Animal Medicine Division (UCLA) as an Associate Clinical Veterinarian before he moved on to his Private Practice. Dr. Basilious practiced in Southern California until he decided Opening the Bastet Cat Hospital in 1997.
